Youth of Belarus, Uzbekistan sign cooperation roadmap

MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) - Youth Council under the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Youth Parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a cooperation roadmap for 2026-2027 in Khiva, Uzbekistan on 30 September, BelTA learned.

The document was signed following a joint meeting of the two youth bodies held on the sidelines of the Uzbekistan-Belarus Interparliamentary Forum.

According to Chairwoman of the Youth Council under the Council of the Republic Alina Retkova, the roadmap is not simply a list of events but a strategic action plan aimed at taking bilateral cooperation to a fundamentally new level. It covers key areas of young people’s lives and offers specific mechanisms for exchanging experience and implementing joint initiatives.

Alina Retkova outlined several key areas of cooperation. First, the sides agreed to develop cooperation in the information and media spheres.

“We plan not only to cover our projects but also to learn from each other how youth parliaments work on social media and in traditional media. We will pay particular attention to media security and how to counter destructive content, which is critically important today for protecting the younger generation,” she said.

Second, the sides will focus on social protection and support for young people. The roadmap includes a series of video conferences. “We will conduct a comparative analysis of benefit systems for young specialists, discuss housing programs and preferential lending, and measures to support those who decide to build their lives in rural areas. This will allow us to adopt best practices for addressing common challenges,” she said.

Third, Belarusian and Uzbek youth plan to develop regional partnership and parliamentarism. According to Alina Retkova, establishing twinning ties between specific regions is particularly important. “We are moving from general words to concrete friendship between regions. A video conference on the structure and powers of regional parliaments will help us understand how to more effectively represent the interests of young people at the local level,” she explained.

She emphasized that the roadmap provides a solid foundation for joint work in 2026-2027. It demonstrates the readiness of young people in Belarus and Uzbekistan not simply to declare friendship but to jointly build effective mechanisms to support young people.

“We, the Youth Council, will do everything in our power to ensure that every item of this plan is implemented and brings tangible results to young citizens of our countries,” Alina Retkova concluded.
